Confidence, clarity, and speaking the truth

“I wish I had the confidence of someone like Trump.”

I’ve heard this—or things like it—more than once. And I used to be like, “I KNOW, RIGHT?! Irrational confidence! Unshakable self-esteem! Sounds amazing! Let’s GO!”

I don’t feel that way anymore.

I don’t want the irrational confidence of someone like Trump.

Because that’s not confidence.

It’s not even self-esteem.

Constantly shouting “LOOK HOW GREAT I AM!” doesn’t come from an innate sense of self-worth.
Refusing to admit mistakes (and attacking people who mention them) isn’t confidence.
Not caring who you hurt on your quest to feel powerful isn’t aspirational.

I’m so tired of these assholes shitting all over other people in an attempt to confirm their awesomeness.

So, no, I don’t want that. Not even a little.

What do I want instead?

Empathy. Embodiment. Self-worth. Courage. Caring.
Seeing the humanness of others. Lifting each other up. A rising tide. A different paradigm.

That’s what I want.

Sending you love, strength, and perspective, wherever you are.
